As Chief Medical Officer of AltaScience, Jim brings a unique range of experience and skillset to the role. He is both a successful entrepreneur and a general and vascular surgeon, making possible an exceptional appreciation for successful medical device innovation. Over the last 20 years he has been the founder of five medical device start-up, tailored at advancing treatments across a diverse range of clinical indications. He has successfully lead enterprises through product development and acquisition (e.g. by Abbott Vascular). He currently serves as CEO of Vasorum, an arterial closure device company. Jim previously spent seven years as Senior International Medical Director for the Surgical Division of American Cyanamid Corporation, American Home Corporations U.S.A., and more recently Tyco - Kendall International .He obtained his Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1986 and completed a Master of Science in Surgery at Tufts University, Boston in 1989. He also completed a Master of Business Administration, in London in 1995.
